September President’s Update, Part 2
Good Evening,
Just a few quick updates before the end of the month. First of all, I would like to welcome our 2 newest board members. Linda Kujawa has joined us as Secretary and Dana Hopper is our new Director at Large.
Next, I would like to thank Dr. Veracco and the Lake Central School Corporation, volunteers from the Highland High School National Honor Society, our board members and all the family and community members who supported our mum sale. We have raised over $1,000.00 to date. I will update the total when finalized.
Third, we have learned that a trial date has been set for the former president and executive director. Concerned and interested members should consider petitioning the Indiana State Police, Corruption & fraud Unit, Lake County Prosecutor, judge and local papers to request delaying the trial. The families and friends of the DSANWI deserve a full and complete investigation of their tenure.
We are waiting on a response from the plumbers local and have been provided an additional contact for plumbing supplies and resources. We are hopeful that either or both of these contacts will provide us with many of the resources we need.
The Building permit is also pending with the Town of Schererville. We have also renegotiated and updated insurance that will potentially save over $800.00. We continue to look for venues and activities for individuals of all ages.
Finally, as you are aware, October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month. There is still time to sign up for our Virtual Buddy Walk. We will be having a Family/Member meeting toward the middle of October. I will post the date and location as soon as it is confirmed.
Stay well everyone!
Mary
